Woman went to Police to File Rape FIR But Cop Asked Her to Have Sex with Him First

The law and order of a country is responsible for providing a safe and secure environment to the citizens of the nation but what will you do if the people who are responsible for implementing law and order are themselves breaking the law?

A rape survivor was worried about the safety of her life as the two accused were roaming freely so the 37-yr lady approached the investigation officer (IO) at Rampur’s Ganj police station and asked him to arrest the accused. But the answer that she received was really disgusting! She claimed that the SI demanded sexual favors from her for taking a legal action against the accused.

On Wednesday, she met the SP and submitted the evidence that she had against the SI. Sudha Singh, the additional superintendent of police, informed TOI,

“Ganj station officer has been asked to investigate the matter against the SI and submit a report.”

As per police, the lady was raped on February 12 by two men and she knew one of them. She was returning to her house after meeting a relative when these two offered her lift to her house. When they got to know that she was alone in the house, they raped her at gunpoint.

Police didn’t file an FIR at that time until she went to a local court; consequently, FIR was registered a week later. She gave her statement in front of the magistrate and on Feb 21, Ameer Ahmad (55) and Sattar Ahmad (45) were arrested under the section 376 (D) (gangrape), 323 (voluntary causing hurt) and 506 (criminal intimidation) of IPC.

The lady told TOI,

“My ordeal began soon afterwards. Whenever I approached SI Jai Prakash Singh seeking arrest of the accused, he would say he first wanted to have sex with me. He even called up on my mobile phone and invited me to visit him in his room alone. When I turned him down, he filed a closure report in the case a fortnight ago.”

She further added,

“He would ask about the rape sequence time and again, posing objectionable questions on the details. Then he told me, “Tum pahley meri hasrat puri karo, tab mulzim pakday jayenge’ (First you fulfill my desire, I will then arrest the accused).”

When it became too much for her to tolerate, she started recording the conversations secretly and handed over the CD to SP. Vipin Tada, the SP Rampur said,

“Prima facie, the voice in the audio clip doesn’t match with that of the SI. But will investigate her charges thoroughly.”
