Early Life
Nick Lucena graduated from Florida State University with a degree in Sports Management. Phil Dalhausser and Nick Dalhausser started and ended their careers together – Nick made his AVP Main Draw debut together at Belmar in 2003. With his first win in 2005, Nick now has 14 AVP tournament wins.He is married to Brooke Niles, FSU Beach Volleyball Head Coach and former AVP pro. They have two sons, Gunner and Cole.
Career
AVP’s 2008 Most Improved Player and Best Defensive Player awards went to Lucena.
Together with Phil, the best friends achieved major success on both the AVP and FIVB tours in 2015. Their performance at the Rio 2016 Olympics earned them a 5th place finish. After that, they became one of the top teams in the AVP and the world, winning AVP Team of the Year in 2017. They are also looking forward to the Tokyo Olympics.
