US Navy Veteran Kills Indian Engineer after shouting “Get out of my Country” in US

In a shocking incident, it was reported that a US Navy Veteran shot at and killed an Indian Engineer in the state of Kansas. The deranged man was heard shouting “Get Out of My Country” and at a time when hate crimes are at a high due to the election of Donald Trump as the President of USA, it should be considered that there is a higher chance of more violence against non-whites and especially Asians as they are a soft target in such cases. The police are terming this murder as a hate crime category offense as that was the apparent reason for the incident.

On Wednesday night, the victim Srinivas Kuchibhotla (32) with his colleagues, Alok Madasani and Ian Grillot, was sitting at a bar when a drunk man approached them. He shouted some racist comment on both of the Indian counterparts and called them “Mid Eastern”. He then took out his gun and shot at them killing Srinivas while injuring Alok in the process.

The other colleague, Ian swiftly moved to stop the man from shooting injuring himself in the process. The deranged man Adam Purinton, then ran away from the scene but before he left the bar he told the bartender that he shot two “Middle Eastern” men.

On Thursday morning, Adam was arrested by the police and has been charged with premeditated first-degree murder and premeditated attempted murder.

Srinivas is an engineer who worked at the Garmin Headquarter, Olathe, in the US State of Kansas as an aviation engineer. He did his B.Tech. in Electrical and Electronics from Jawaharlal Nehru Technological University while he completed his masters from University of Texas El Paso.

Srinivas wife Sunayana Durmala works for a technology firm in Kansas. Two Consulate officials have been flown to the city to look into the matter and provide assistance to the family.
