Lieutenant Governor Anil Baijal has issued a strict order to recover 97 Crores that is already spent by the Kejriwal led Delhi Government lavishly on its advertising. As we know this is in strict violation of Supreme Court guidelines.
Baijal not only issued directives, but also set up an inquiry on the amount that is spent on the advertisement for CM Kejriwal’s protection and his party. He has asked his chief secretary to assign the responsibility.
Aam Aadmi Party will have to recompense the entire spent amount in a month’s time. The decision is taken after months, the Centre had appointed 3 member committee who discovered that AAP is misusing the exchequer money on for their personal gain.
Soures told PTI that out of 97 Crores that is spent on the advertising, the government has paid Rs 42 Crore to the advertising agencies. The LG issued an order to Chief Secretary M M Kutty to get the amount recompensated from the Aam Aadmi Party.
The remaining of 55 Crores is not yet paid by the Kejriwal government. As per LG’s order, the Aam Aadmi Party will give to the ad agencies.
Beyond this, the Comptroller and Auditor General (CAG) also discovered that AAP has been spending for advertisement even outside Delhi. The amount is around 29 Crores which they spent on ads outside Delhi and it was certainly not falling under their responsibility.
3 Member committee, which is under the leadership of former Chief Election Commission B B Tandon lays on the constitution of I&B ministry on the directions of the Supreme Court. It is there to address the problems related to Content Regulation in Government Advertising.
It is also said the paid amount of Rs 24 Crores is another violation of financial propriety and the regulations of the Supreme Court. This is as per the report stated by CAG in Delhi Assembly on March 10th.
